how to oven roasting asparagus?


Oven roasting asparagus will give an intense smoky flavor quite distinct from boiling or steaming.


Steps and to technique properly to oven roast asparagus:

  1. Take one bunch of fresh asparagus and wash thoroughly several times in warm water
  2. Trim off the end of each steam of the asparagus
  3. Pre heat oven to 220 degrees F (gas mark 7)
  4. Place freshly trimmed asparagus on a baking sheet and drizzle extra virgin olive oil over them. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and pepper.

    To add a unique flavor place in a few chopped cloves of fresh garlic

    For a low or no fat option replace olive oil with non fat cooking spray
  5. Take your baking sheet full of olive oil drizzled fresh asparagus and
    place it in the oven. Set your timer for 10 minutes
  6. Checking periodically during those 10 minutes turnover the fresh asparagus a few times depending on the thickness of the spears. The asparagus stems should be soft, not limp, tips should be slightly crunchy.
  7. Remove baking tray full of oven roasted asparagus out of the oven.
  8. Quickly take the oven roasted asparagus off the baking tray and into clean bowl and lightly sprinkle grated Parmesan Reggiano Cheese on top.
    (If you leave the asparagus on the baking tray for to long your asparagus will get softer.)
  9. Enjoy the great flavor of your freshly oven roasted asparagus

*If you have leftover oven roasted asparagus place in an airtight sealed container like Tuperware and refrigerate. Warm up our oven roasted asparagus later in the microwave for a tasty treat. Oven roasted asparagus should keep for 5 days if refrigerated properly.
